Obituary for Richard E. Moore

Richard E. (Dick) Moore age 90 of Upper Sandusky, died at Vancrest of Upper Sandusky on Apr. 19, 2026. He was born July 21, 1935 in Marion to the late Basil and Helen (Beidelschies) Moore. He married Reginia “Jean” Wertz on Nov. 16, 1956, after 43 years of marriage she preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 1999. Surviving are sons Richard “Rick” (Victoria) Moore, Upper Sandusky and Robert “Little Bob” (Kim) Moore, Knoxville, TN, grandchildren Tony and D.J. and a sister Shirley Terrell. He has multiple nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by grandsons Tim and Sammy, sisters Rita Ratliff, Janet Shaffer, brothers Harold Moore, Gerald Moore and Basil Moore.

In 1953 Mr. Moore graduated from Upper Sandusky High School. Entering the United States Army in 1954 he served in the Army Security Agency in Okinawa until Honorably discharged in 1956. Richard was an entrepreneur. He and his wife were the owner/operator of Wertz nursing home in Crestline. Later he had built or invested in apartment buildings, Parkview in Upper Sandusky and Riverview in Bucyrus, as well as homes in the surrounding areas. In addition to investments he and Reginia had owned DiJean Dress Shop in Upper Sandusky.

Among some of his hobbies were hunting in Wyoming and Canada in the 60’s and 70’s, coin collecting in the 80’s, and travel in the 1990’s. Richard has belonged to many organizations over the years to include the Elks, Ohio Hospital Board of Directors, Moose Lodge 889 in Marion and American Legion, and the most enjoyable was the Crestline, Ohio Kiwanis and his affiliation with the boy scout troops. He enjoyed Fri. nights at Marion Moose, dancing, cruises, listening to country music, riding bicycles and visiting his son in TN.

Services will be held at 11:00AM on Wed. Apr. 22, 2026 at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Swinehart officiating. Visitation is from 9:30AM-11:00AM on Wed. Apr. 22, 2026 at the funeral home.
