Funeral services for Richard Ivan Haudenshield will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. Burial with military rites will follow at Grove Cemetery in Kenton. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the funeral home.
Richard went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton. He was born on February 19, 1939, in Wyandot County, Ohio to the late Leonard and Mary Ellen (Jacobs) Haudenschield. He graduated from Kenton High School in 1957. He married Wanda Lease, and they had a daughter, Brenda who survives. They later divorced and he married Janice Schotte in 1963 and they had 2 sons, Jerry (Samantha) Lee and Adam Clay who survive. He also is survived by three grandchildren: Owen, Avery, and Emily, a brother, Frank Haudenschield, a sister-in-law; Evelyn Haudenschield and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother; Leonard “Gene” Haudenschield.
Richard was an Army Veteran. He worked at Cooper Tire in Findlay, Marion Power Shovel and did some farming.
Richard started trimming trees after graduation and remained a tree trimmer his entire life. He has even trimmed trees in Ireland.
He was a scout master and would take his sons and the troop up to Michigan. He loved Michigan and even had a cabin there.
Richard loved his work and was a good provider for his family. He was always willing to help someone in need. He loved to dance, and joke, and was always making someone laugh. He never met a stranger and will be missed by his family and friends.
Memorial donations in Richard’s honor may be made to the Amvets Post 1994 Riders.
