Shirley Ann Draper 94 of Kenton
Shirley Ann Draper, 94, of Kenton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, April 9th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born July 2, 1928 to the late Charles and Lucille (Price) Haas. She met the love of her life, Jack Edward Draper at the portable skating rink in Kenton in 1946. They were married on March 21, 1948 and they just celebrated their 75th anniversary.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, and their two children; Sherrie Dyer of Mt. Victory and Debbie (Steve) Ashba of Kenton and her sister, Carol Bailey. Shirley has seven grandchildren: Jacki (Audie) Atienza, Lori (Chris) Sherman, Michael (Sandy) Smith, Tammy Rodgers, Richard Stover, Jason (Jill) Stover, and Sarah Huff; three step-grandchildren: Aaron (Nicole) Ashba, Adam Ashba, and Alan (Amber) Ashba; nineteen great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Haas, and one grandchild, Leslie Teeters.
Shirley was born and raised in Kenton, Ohio. She and Jack spent 32 winters in Frostproof, Florida, with a community of family members and friends in Lakemont Ridge Home & RV Park. Shirley was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church in Kenton. She enjoyed visiting Walt Disney World, collecting Disney figurines, reading, completing word searches and crossword puzzles, and was an avid watcher of Family Feud. Shirley had a quick wit and a beautiful smile that could light up a room.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Price McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, April 14th at the funeral home, with the funeral being held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 15th, at the funeral home with Rev. Randall Forester officiating. Burial will take place at Grove Cemetery, Kenton, immediately following the service.
