Susan “Sue” Sheldon, age 67, of Wharton, passed away on November 30, 2025. She was born on December 25, 1957, to the late Lucille Cummings and Harold Camper.
She met the love of her life, Joe Sheldon, when she was just 12 years old. After 42 years together, Joe preceded her in death on January 3, 2011. Sue is survived by her 2 children: Lisa (Scott) Carter of Wharton and Dameon (Avery) Hughes of Kenton. Her grandchildren, Darryl (LeeAnn) Carter, Emma (Gavin) Fournier, Loukas Carter (Brook Montgomery), Taonna Carter, Alexis Carter, Joyclyn Nelson, Amelia Carter, and Carlisle Hughes; her great-grandchildren, Roman Fournier, Everett Fournier, and Kennedy Carter. Her family was her pride and joy.
Also surviving are:
Her brothers, Gary (Sheryl) Camper, Bob (Lori) Camper, David (Tammy) Camper, and Tim (Sheryl) Cummings.
Her sisters Corinne (the late Dutch) Huckaby, Debbie Ritter, and sisters-in-law, Sandy Thompson and Kim Camper.
Sue also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Camper and Terry Camper; her niece, Jerilynn McElhaney; her nephews, Cody Camper and Tony McAdams; her mother-in-law, Helen Sheldon; and her brothers-in-law, Chuck McAdams, Don McAdams, and Rick Sheldon; and Harold’s special friend, Betty Castle.
She graduated from Kenton Senior High in 1976. She retired from Hardin Memorial Hospital after 50 years of service, where she made many lifelong friends. She attended Wharton First Church of God and is grateful for Pastor Derek Pryer. Sue could often be found in the bleachers cheering on the Riverdale Falcons and their opponents because she believed every child should have someone cheering them on.
Sue’s passing has left a huge void in the hearts of her family and friends whose lives were touched by her. Comfort is found in knowing she is now reunited with the love of her life, Joe, her parents, her brothers, her niece & nephews, and our Lord. Sue was a wonderful woman who usually had a smile on her face and was a friend to all. She spent most of her life helping others through volunteer work, lending an ear, or stepping into a mother/grandmother role for those who needed her.
Her wishes were to be cremated through Price McElroy Funeral Home. Her ashes will be buried at Grove Cemetery beside Joe during a graveside service attended by only her children and grandchildren, with Pastor Derek Pryer speaking. There will be no celebration of life, as she wanted her family to mourn her loss privately.
If Sue ever touched your life, please consider donating to Not By Choice Outreach in Kenton, OH, or to a local food pantry in her memory.
