OSP Trooper Arrested on Rape and Other Charges

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper assigned to the Springfield Post, was arrested this past Friday on charges of rape and drug trafficking.

WPKO Radio reported that the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40 year old John McLeod.

Records with Champaign Municipal Court show McLeod is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual battery and one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs. 

McLeod has been a trooper since 2013.

He is currently on unpaid leave during the investigation.

A preliminary hearing has been set for October 7.
