Patrol’s Sergeant Slates promoted to Lieutenant at the Findlay Post

COLUMBUS – On July 17, Sergeant Evan M. Slates was promoted to the rank of lieutenant by Colonel Charles A. Jones, Patrol superintendent. Lieutenant Slates will transfer from his current assignment at the Bowling Green Post to serve as post commander at the Findlay Post.

Lieutenant Slates began his Patrol career in October 2010 as a member of the 150th Academy Class. He earned his commission in April of the following year and was assigned to the Bowling Green Post. He was selected as Post Trooper of the Year four times and District Trooper of the Year twice. In 2015, he was selected as State Trooper of the Year. He earned the Criminal Patrol Award six times. In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the Toledo Post to serve as an assistant post commander.

Lieutenant Slates served in the United States Marines from 2004 to 2008. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Southern New Hampshire University in 2021.
