The capital murder trial for a Bellefontaine woman has been postponed after the judge in the case granted a defense request for more testing and evaluation.

The Bellefontaine Examiner reported that the trial of Brittany Pilkington was scheduled to start March 18, and Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart said his team was ready.

Judge Mark S. O’Connor however sided with defense attorneys saying that a delay is necessary to assess if Pilkington has mental disabilities.

A new trial date has not yet been set.

She accused of killing her three young sons starting in 2014.

If convicted, she could be sentenced to death.
