The Marysville Police Department is warning residents about a scam.
The caller poses as a deputy with the Union County Sheriff’s Office and claims the victim has warrants related to jury duty out of the local court.
The scammers have spoofed the phone number for the Union County Sheriff’s Office and are likely using actual employee names as part of the scam.
The law enforcement official’s name or information provided could be altered by scammers in other attempts.
If you receive a call similar to this, hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency.
If you have been a victim, you should also contact law enforcement.
