Two people were killed, and two others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 81 at the intersection of Hardin Road in Allen County Tuesday afternoon.
According to a release from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 84-year-old Nancy Weese, of Columbus, was driving south on Hardin Road and failed to stop for a stop sign at 81.
Her vehicle was struck by a westbound vehicle being operated by 32-year-old Samantha Hilton, of Dunkirk.
Immediately after the collision, Weese’s vehicle was struck by an eastbound vehicle being operated by 43-year-old Jeffrey R. Barnes, of Ada.
Nancy Weese was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
A passenger in her vehicle, identified as Richard Weese, was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Hilton was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital for suspected minor injuries.
Barnes sustained suspected minor injuries but was not transported.
The intersection was completely closed for approximately three hours.
Alcohol or drugs is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
