
Mark Bishop, a bus driver/trainer at Kenton City Schools shared with Sharon Sams and those gathered at a recent Kenton Rotary meeting about what it takes to become a school bus driver.
Mr. Bishop shared that people become bus drivers for many different reasons such as teachers/coaches, a desire to give back to the community, second shift workers, farmers or law enforcement officers.
There are certain criteria and specific training you must meet to become a bus driver. Bishop said that 75% of new drivers have never driven a bus before.
Mark went on to further share some statistics, stating that over 15,000 buses on the roads that carry over 800,000 students in Ohio. He said that it is the safest way for students to travel.
