Bellefontaine – The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a plane crash that occurred at the Bellefontaine Regional Airport. The crash occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. in Logan County.

A 2007 Diamond, DA-42, twin engine aircraft operated by Justin Stone, age 26, of Pittsburg (PA), and Co-Pilot Lisa Sochocki, age 41, of Haleiwa (HI) was in the process of taking off when the Co-Pilot inadvertently retracted the landing gear resulting in a gear strike with the runway.

Neither pilot sustained any injury and the aircraft sustained minor damage to the propeller and lower fuselage. The runway was not damaged and remained open.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Columbus FAA office of flight Standards.
