Fire Damages Roof of Whirlpool Plant in Marion; No Injuries Reported

A fire damaged part of the Whirlpool plant in Marion Sunday evening.

According to information from the Marion Township Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched at just before 6 Sunday evening after a fire on the roof of the plant was reported.

The fire was contained to the roof area, and it was quickly extinguished.

Water damage was extensive in that area of the plant due to sprinklers and fire suppression efforts.

Fire Departments from Marion, Pleasant, Fort Morrow, Green Camp, and Bucyrus provided assistance.

There were no injuries.
