
Two people were killed in separate crashes over the weekend in our region.
The first occurred at just after 7:00am Saturday morning on State Route 117 in Allen County.
According to a release from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 67-year-old Jeffrey Tibbitts, of Virginia, was driving southeast on 117, when a vehicle traveling northwest and being operated by 20-year-old Aniyah Moss, of Springfield, crossed the center line while the driver was attempting pass three vehicle, which resulted in a head-on collision.
Tibbitts was pronounced dead on the scene.
Moss and a passenger in her vehicle were treated for minor injuries.
Less than three hours later in Auglaize County, 49-year-old Jennifer Rains, of Wapakoneta, was driving south on Town Line Lima Road and failed to stop for a stop sign at US 33.
Her vehicle was struck by an eastbound vehicle being operated by 31-year-old Katelyn Clevenger, of Wapakoneta.
Both drivers were transported to Lima Memorial Hospital where Rains was pronounced dead.
The crashes remain under investigation.
