KENTON, Ohio (Aug. 1, 2025) — WKTN-FM has reached an agreement with the Cincinnati Reds to air select games for the rest of the 2025 season and the 2026 season.

General Manager Shannon Barnes said the partnership reflects the station’s effort to broaden programming. “Along with our decision to add variety to our music, we also wanted to expand our sports coverage,” Barnes said. “This provides value for our advertisers and our listeners.”

The Reds join WKTN’s existing sports lineup, which includes the Columbus Blue Jackets, Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio State Buckeyes football and regional high school sports.

Station Manager Chad Spencer said high school coverage will remain the station’s priority. “Our top priority will always be high school sports and the student athletes in our region who dedicate their time and talent,” Spencer said. “As long as announcers are available, WKTN will put high school sports first.”

Spencer added that rights fees, advertising restrictions and promotional opportunities factor into the station’s decisions on broadcast partnerships.

A full schedule of Reds broadcasts and other sports coverage will be posted at WKTN.com
