14-Year-Old Boy Injured in Lima Shooting; Suspect at Large

A 14-year-old boy was shot while inside his residence Thursday night in Lima.

According to a release from the Lima Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Baxter to investigate a report about shots being fired into the residence. 

Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived to find the boy, who had been shot as a result of someone firing several shots into the residence through a ground floor window. 

Witness described the gunman as a taller, thin, black male, wearing a white t-shirt. 

The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot, northbound between the houses. 

The victim, whose name is not being released at this time, was transported and treated for non-life-threatening injuries St. Rita’s Medical Center. 

Detectives are following up on leads and cultivating video from the neighborhood.
