
Hardin County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Richard Williams and Deputy Michael Bell were chosen by Flag City Honor Flight as Guardians to accompany veterans on a tour of historic sites and memorials in Washington DC this past Tuesday, September 9.
Flag City Honor Flight is a volunteer-run nonprofit that flies veterans from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan to Washington, D.C. to visit war memorials. Community Guardians accompany veterans to ensure a safe and meaningful experience.
Flag City Honor Flight, part of the Honor Flight Network, honors veterans by flying them to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials at no cost. Priority is given to WWII and terminally ill veterans, followed by Korean and Vietnam Era veterans.
Veterans from any era are welcome to apply.
The Flight honorees participating in the event on Tuesday were those who had served during the Korean War, Vietnam War, or Desert Storm.
Williams, a US Army Vet, and Bell, currently serving in the US Air Force Reserve, each personally accompanied 2 of the honored vets for the day.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office saluted all veterans and everyone who made this memorable event possible.
