The Kenton Lions Club held its regular meeting recently.  Guest Speaker for the evening was Chad Miller, Kenton City Council Member representing the 4th Ward, is involved with the finance, utility and legislative committees.  Chad presented members with information about the upcoming ordinance submitted to the board of elections on whether a commission shall be chosen to frame a city charter.  He stated that the Council desires to enact a charter for the purpose of providing a better governmental framework for the City of Kenton.  He gave examples of how a charter will provide stricter criteria and more specific job descriptions for hiring personnel and improve the efficiency pertaining to local issues.

Chad also gave examples of surrounding cities like Bellefontaine, Marion and Lima having Charters. He pointed out that the charter would be created by a committee of 15 elected city residents who would draft a charter with the guidance of a qualified law firm.  This charter would be voted on in Nov. 2026, after all residents get a copy to look at and provide feedback.
