A DeGraff man was arrested this week on multiple counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person after an investigation tied to Internet Crimes Against Children.
According to a release from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began after detectives received information from ICAC regarding the illegal download of child sexual abuse material.
The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Michael L. Walters.
Sheriff’s Office Detectives contacted and interviewed Walters, who is said to have later confessed to downloading the material for nearly a year from the internet and the dark web.
A residential search warrant was executed at Walters’ home, where investigators seized several electronic devices and external storage drives.
During an initial review of a portion of the stored data, detectives located confirmed child sexual abuse material files estimated to be in the thousands.
Walters is currently being held in the Logan County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
