As of Thursday morning, two new outdoor warning sirens have been installed and are fully operational in the Village of Ada.
According to a release from the Ada Police Department, the village has been working to secure funding for the sirens since 2024.
The sirens were strategically placed to ensure maximum coverage throughout the village in the event of potential tornadic weather.
As part of the upgrade, all siren testing and activation will now be managed remotely by the National Weather Service and will no longer be conducted manually by local officials.
Routine testing will occur each Wednesday at approximately 11am and will last 60 seconds.
The testing will be suspended if there is a potential for severe weather on the scheduled test day.
Residents are encouraged to remain weather-aware and to utilize multiple methods of receiving emergency alerts, including NOAA weather radios and mobile alert systems.
