Snow has been falling throughout the morning in Hardin County and surrounding areas.

Residents across the region should prepare for hazardous winter conditions through tonight and into Saturday, as the National Weather Service has issued back-to-back weather advisories.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. this evening. Light to moderate snowfall is expected, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible. Snow-covered and slick roads could impact both the morning and evening commutes.

In addition, a Cold Weather Advisory will go into effect from 1 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero are expected across the region.

The National Weather Service warns that prolonged exposure to these wind chills could lead to hypothermia if proper precautions are not taken. Residents are urged to limit time outdoors, dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and ensure pets and vulnerable individuals have adequate warmth.

Drivers should use caution, allow extra travel time, and stay alert as conditions may change rapidly.
