Two Killed in Early-Morning US 6 Crash in Vermilion Township in Erie County

Vermilion Township – On February 27, 2026 at 2:07 a.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol Sandusky Post was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on US 6 near mile marker 25 in the Township of Vermilion, Erie County.

Rickey Morgan, age 49, of Vermilion, Ohio was driving a 2008 Honda Accord westbound on US 6. Mr. Morgan failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and drove off the right side of the roadway. Mr. Morgan overcorrected, came back onto the roadway, then lost control and drove back off the right side of the road. Mr. Morgan’s vehicle struck two signs before striking a tree and coming to final rest.

Robert Senn Jr., age 65, also from Vermilion, Ohio was a front seat passenger. Mr. Morgan and Mr. Senn Jr. were not wearing their safety belts and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Vermilion Township Fire Department, Vermilion Police Department, LifeCare EMS, Riddle Funeral Home and Interstate Towing.

US 6 was closed for approximately two hours and has since reopened. Alcohol is a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.
