Twelve-year-old Sadie Mustain from Kenton earned a spot in the 2026 Great Lakes YMCA Zone Championship that took place March 21-22 at CT Branin Natatorium in Canton, OH. The competition featured YMCA teams from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Swimmers secure their place in events during the YMCA season by meeting qualifying times in their respective races.
Mustain qualified to swim in five events: 50 Free, 50 Breast, 50 Butterfly, 100 IM, and 100 Butterfly. She placed 5th in the Zone for the 11-12 girls’ group in the 50 Butterfly with a time of 29.44 seconds, and 11th in the 100 Butterfly with a 1:08.48. She also had strong finishes in her Free, Breaststroke, and IM, winning her heat in all but one event.
Sadie was the only swimmer to represent Hardin County Family YMCA Sea Dragons at Zones this year. The team is coached by Ethan Daniels, Kiyah Howe and Addison Mustain.
