
Two people were injured in a head-on crash in the 21,000 block of State Route 235 that occurred Thursday morning in Hancock County.
According to a release from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, a southbound car driven by Caiden Helms crossed the center and struck a northbound vehicle by driven by Kathy Elsass.
Following the crash, Elsass’ car caught on fire.
She was initially trapped inside but was pulled to safety by a passing Good Samaritan before the car became fully engulfed in flames.
Elsass was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital, and Helms was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Central, both with injuries of unknown severity.
The crash remains under investigation.
