A couple of area schools ended up closing for today after thunderstorms rolled through Tuesday evening.

Benjamin Logan Elementary School closed due to storm damage.

Superintendent John Scheu shared that the closure is necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff while damage is assessed and addressed.

Celina High School cancelled classes for today due to flooded classrooms and areas of standing water.

The storms rumbled through quickly, but they contained strong gusty winds, heavy rain, dangerous lightening and in some places hail.

Stay alert for more scattered thunderstorms that are expected again this afternoon into the evening, and the most favored time for severe weather is between 3 and 10 pm, according to the National Weather Service.

A few severe storms are possible again Thursday, and additional strong to severe storms are possible on Saturday.
