St. John’s Evangelical Church and Christian Motorcycle Association will host the Annual Blessing of the Bikes and Car and Bike Show on May 17. The event will take place at 217 East Carrol Street in Kenton.

A prototype Jeep built in the 1970’s that never went into production will be at the Car Show.

Michael and Paula Smith, of Findlay, own the vehicle that is so rare they call it the unicorn Jeep.

Paula’s grandfather Pete Johnson, who was a Research and Development Supervisor at the original Toledo Jeep Plant, designed the Jeep truck prototype in 1977, but it wasn’t picked up for producation.

Johnson was eventually able to buy the vehicle for $1 in 1977.

After sitting for numerous years, Paula’s husband, Michael, spent more than a decade on a painstaking restoration project.

Registration will be from 9:00 until 11:30 that morning, the Car and Bike Show will be from noon until 2:00, the Blessing of the Bikes is at 12:15 p.m. and presentation of trophies will be at 1:30 p.m.

If you have any questions, you can contact the church at 419-673-7278 or stjohnskenton@gmail.com.
