The Kenton City Schools Board of Education held its April meeting Monday evening.

Superintendent Chad Thrush announced that a public hearing will be held to discuss the re-employment of Lisa Cochensparger as the Administrative Assistant in the Treasurer’s Office. He said when the district is going to re-hire someone who has retired, a public hearing notice must be posted. It will be held at the next Board of Education meeting on May 18. Anyone who has concerns will have an opportunity to speak at the public hearing. Later in the meeting, the board approved Cochensparger’s retirement after 17 years with Kenton City Schools.

Also at the meeting, the board approved a list of policies and bylaws, including revisions to public participation at board meetings.

Board member Tasha Heydinger said the board is going to ask that you are a resident of the school district, parent or guardians of students in the district, an employee, individuals of business ownership in the district or elected or appointed officials in order to participate.

After approving the one-year Kenton Education Association Teacher agreement effective July 1 and taking care of several routine near end of school year personnel matters, the board went into executive session to discuss the sale of property, to prepare for collective bargaining strategy and administrative contracts, and no action was taken afterwards.

The next regular meeting will be held May 18.
