A Dunkirk man will get a hearing in his attempt to withdraw guilty pleas in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.
Zachery Freed was indicted in May of 2025 on one count of intimidation, one count of disrupting public services and three counts of domestic violence.
He ended up pleading guilty to disrupting public services and two counts of domestic violence.
Before the sentencing date, Freed filed a motion to withdraw the pleas and proceed to trial.
On August 8, Judge Steve Christopher denied the motion, and on August 14, Freed was placed on five years of community control at the sentencing hearing.
An appeal was then filed, and the Ohio Third District Court of Appeals issued an opinion that stated the trial court abused its discretion by denying Freed’s presentence motion to withdraw his guilty pleas without conducting a hearing and remanded the case back to the trial court for further proceedings.
A hearing on the motion to withdraw the guilty pleas will be held May 7 in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.
