Kenton Hardin Hosts Soroptimist Regional Conference in Columbus

Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist International

The Soroptimist International Midwestern Region held a conference from April 24 to 26 at the Marriott Bonvoy Columbus Hotel. SI District 2’s Kenton-Hardin Co. served as the host club. The conference was successful with workshops and sharing of ideas between attendees. Sixteen members attended during the conference. They were Ruth Ann Cook, Ruth Waggoner, Laura Ferguson, Hope Myers, Missie Austin, Maylene Deckling, Laura Wilkerson, Jennifer Holdgreve, Judy Sallee, Angela Williams, Karen Kier, Marcella Frater, Jessica Hinson, Norma Frederick, Bonnie Haney, and (not pictured) Maria Santo.

Soroptimist Intl. of the Americas (SIA) includes the Midwestern Region that has Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Kentucky. The purpose for all members is to help women and girls make success in their lives in a male dominated world. The help is in different forms such as scholarships, helping women/ girls to escape sex trafficking/domestic abuse, providing clothing and essentials for employment interviews, providing personal hygiene items in our schools and shelters, etc. Each club works on fundraising to achieve these goals.

SI Kenton-Hardin County is honored to announce that four members have been installed at this conference as part of the incoming MW Region Board. Standing in back is SI Midwestern Region Treasurer Maylene Deckling and SI District 2 Director Laura Ferguson.
