Join the official dedication ceremony at Ray Brown Memorial Park in Alger on May 14th. Born in Alger in 1908, Brown was a two-time Negro World Series champion and one of the greatest pitchers in the Negro leagues. A National Baseball Hall of Famer, he dominated the mound, leading the Negro National League II in ERA and strikeouts twice, and topping the wins list five times. He also led the Negro National League I in wins and strikeouts once. Brown wrapped up his playing career playing abroad in Mexico and Canada, and even tossed a no-hitter in Cuba.
The festivities will kick off with food trucks and concessions at 1 PM and lead up to a game of America’s Pastime at 6 PM.
