The Kenton Wildcats Softball team dominated the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers with a 19-0 victory on Monday. They jumped ahead early in the first inning thanks to a CJ Newberry RBI single, an error that brought in a run, and a wild pitch that scored two more. A bases-loaded walk by Lyla Gammon pushed the lead to 5-0 in the second. The third inning saw an offensive explosion as the Wildcats plated nine runs on six hits, with key RBIs from Emori Criner, Brayla Butler, Rylee Woodruff, and Kylee Kavanagh, plus walks drawn by Aubrey Kavanagh and Raeleigh Whitaker. The Wildcats showed patience at the plate throughout the game with 14 total walks. In the fourth, Kenton added five more runs on one hit, aided by an error, another walk from Kavanagh, and a three-run single from Whitaker. Newberry went 2-for-3 to lead Kenton in hits, while Whitaker and Kavanagh each drove in three runs. The Wildcats did it in every phase of the game, adding six steals to the box score as well.

Woodruff earned the win, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out five without a walk. Waynesfield-Goshen’s Savannah Spillis took the loss, giving up 14 runs (11 earned) in three innings.

Kenton will face Wapakoneta next on Tuesday.
