Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Warns Residents of Repair Scams

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office issued a Community Alert advising residents to protect their property from repair scams.

They have received reports of unsolicited door-to-door contractors operating in the area, offering “discounted” roof and barn repairs.

While these offers may seem like a bargain, they are often part of a common mobile repair scam.

To protect your home and your wallet, stay alert for red flags such as the “Leftover Materials” pitch.

That is where they claim to have extra supplies from a nearby job and offer a one-time-only “massive discount.”

Be aware also of high-pressure sales, cash only requests and no written contracts.

If you feel pressured or notice suspicious individuals canvassing the neighborhood, notify the Sheriff’s Office.
