The Promotions Committee of Revitalize Kenton, a community partnership dedicated to enhancing and celebrating our community, would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the children, parents, citizens of Kenton, and visitors from surrounding communities who attended our recent Family Fun Day.
A huge thank you goes to the Community Foundation for approving our grant request, which played a significant role in making this event possible.
The event was a tremendous success, with well over 200 people attending and enjoying a day filled with free family-friendly activities and treats. Guests enjoyed cookie decorating, games, crafts, a Power Wheel Derby, painting, bracelet making, snow cones, cotton candy, ice cream, popcorn, hot dogs, bottled water, and more—all provided at no cost to attendees.
This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors and volunteers. We would like to sincerely thank the Lions Club, Patty Evans, Small Batches, Wyndham Family, the Bostelman Family, the Purcell Family, and the Cavinee Family for helping provide the many activities and refreshments that made the day so special.
Special thanks go to Gary and Gloria Grappy, along with Rob and Jennifer Ramge, for donating generators that provided much-needed electrical service throughout the event. We also thank Eddie Steele and Steele Performance Car Wash for providing water to help secure the tents, and Kenton’s Peacock Water for donating cases of bottled water.
We are grateful to Gottfried Entertainment for providing the tent, inflatable attractions, and large games, all of which were a tremendous addition to the event. Thank you to Mr. Wong for generously allowing us to use the event lot at no charge.
A special thank you goes to the Hardin County Bark Buddies 4-H Club for leading the Pet Parade and helping make it a memorable experience for participants and spectators alike.
We would also like to recognize Jenn Smith of Revitalize Kenton, who leads our Kenton Art in Action program and organized the wonderful art activities enjoyed throughout the day.
We also appreciate the support of Tim and Kim Hastings and Hastings Hauling for their contributions to the event including medals for all Derby participants. Yankee Dairy Queen was also a valued sponsor. Head Start also had a coloring table and information on their programs.
We also thank City of Kenton Police & Fire Department who brought a police car, ambulance, and fire truck. To the children’s delight they (and their parents) could get inside the vehicles and visit with the officers and firemen.
Throughout the day, numerous community members approached us to express their appreciation. Many shared how pleasantly surprised they were that every activity, snack, and attraction was completely free. Those comments reinforced exactly why Revitalize Kenton works to provide accessible, family-friendly events for everyone in our community.
Finally, to all of the volunteers who helped set up, tear down, and even stood through an hour-long thunderstorm to ensure the event could continue, we cannot thank you enough. Your dedication, hard work, and commitment to our community made Family Fun Day a success.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We look forward to creating many more opportunities for families and community members to come together and enjoy all that Kenton has to offer.
