Ada-Liberty Township Fire Department Conducts Rural Water Pumping Training

Members of the Ada-Liberty Township Fire Department conducted training on rural water pumping operations earlier this week.

Because portions of their response area do not have access to fire hydrants, the ability to establish and maintain a reliable water supply is an important part of their fire suppression operations.

Utilizing the old Rite Aid parking lot to simulate a rural fire scene without a hydrant, crews deployed two portable drop tanks and practiced drafting water with their primary fire suppression engine.

Their tanker was also utilized to simulate a tanker water shuttle operation.

Regular training like that helps members maintain the skills needed to operate safely and effectively when responding to fires throughout their jurisdiction.
