Mary Rutan Health’s Laboratory has been awarded accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Accreditation Committee following a recent comprehensive on-site inspection.
CAP accreditation is recognized worldwide as a mark of laboratory quality and is based on rigorous standards designed to help laboratories maintain the highest levels of accuracy, safety and performance.
During the accreditation process, CAP inspectors examine a laboratory’s records and quality-control procedures as well as staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety programs and overall management. The review helps ensure laboratory practices meet current standards and reflect best practices in laboratory medicine.
“Patients may not always see the work taking place inside our Laboratory, but it plays a critical role in nearly every aspect of patient care,” said Chad Ross, president and CEO of Mary Rutan Health. “This accreditation reflects the expertise, attention to detail and commitment to quality demonstrated by our Laboratory team every day. We are extremely proud of their work and what this recognition represents for the patients and communities we serve.”
Laboratory testing provides physicians and other healthcare professionals with vital information used to diagnose conditions, guide treatment decisions and monitor patients’ health. Maintaining rigorous standards for laboratory quality and accuracy is an important component of Mary Rutan Health’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, high-quality care.
“Mary Rutan Health Laboratory demonstrates leadership, innovation, and a passionate commitment to standards of excellence while providing the highest quality services, ultimately for patients,” said Earle S. Collum, MD, FCAP, chair of the CAP’s Council on Accreditation. “The CAP congratulates Mary Rutan Health Laboratory on its recent CAP Accreditation.”
Mary Rutan Health congratulated its pathologists, laboratory professionals and the entire Laboratory team on this significant achievement and their continued dedication to providing exceptional care to the community.
