An Upper Sandusky teenager was killed in a crash that occurred Thursday afternoon on State Highway 231 in Wyandot County.
According to a release from Wyandot County Sheriff Michael Hetzel, 16 year old Gabrielle Swartz was a front seat passenger in a car that went off the road and struck several objects before becoming airborne. It then struck a tree and landed off the roadway coming to rest in a corn field.
Swartz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, 17 year old Hannah M. Balduf, was taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospital and later transferred by helicopter to a hospital in Columbus.
A rear seat passenger was treated and released at Wyandot Memorial.
The initial investigation indicates that only the rear seat passenger was wearing a seatbelt.
Sycamore Fire and rescue, Wyandot County EMS and the Wyandot County Coroner assisted at the scene.
