Residents in Lima are being reminded about the dangers of parking their vehicles on the sidewalks and not in the street.

The Lima Police Department posted on its Facebook page that one of the greatest safety issues is that it forces pedestrians to walk in the street due to blocked sidewalks.

Delivery service employees, children going to school & citizens using motorized chairs, carts or strollers all need a safe and easily accessible place to commute.

Lima Police say that vehicles must be parked on the street and within 12 inches from the curb.

Vehicles parked in driveways should also not block sidewalks.

Police say that leaving the sidewalks open ensures safety for all pedestrians, especially children who may be walking to and from bus stops.
