This coming Monday is the first day of November, and that kicks off National Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related death among men and women in the United States.

Smoking is a leading cause of lung cancer, but even if you have never smoked, you can still be at risk.

If you have been exposed to radon, asbestos or other cancer-causing agents, or if you have a personal or family history, you may have an increased risk for lung cancer.

Early detection is important because lung cancer symptoms usually do not appear until the disease is advanced.

Experts recommend talking to your doctor about whether lung cancer screening is right for you.
