The Ohio State Highway Patrol honored the fallen members patrol at the annual Memorial Ceremony this past weekend.

In the Patrol’s 90 years of service to Ohio, 48 individuals have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The name of each fallen member is engraved on the black granite walls of OSP’s Memorial and illuminated by the eternal flame.

Ahead of the ceremony and for the first time in their history, troopers from local posts throughout the state visited each of our fallen and placed a United States flag at each members’ gravesite.

“It is my honor to begin this new way of remembrance, something we are calling the Memorial Fallen Flag Project and will be an annual tradition,” said Patrol superintendent, Colonel Charles Jones. “Family takes care of family, and finding a thoughtful way to honor our Patrol family members who made the ultimate sacrifice was paramount.”

This new annual tradition will start at sunrise and run concurrently the day of the in-person Memorial Ceremony.
