The Kenton Police Department has responded to numerous stolen vehicles and attempted stolen vehicle incidents recently.

Over the President’s Day holiday weekend, officers attempted to stop a vehicle after it was reported as operating recklessly in the 800 block of King Street.

The vehicle fled and police officers engaged in a high-speed pursuit which eventually traveled north out of the city limits.

The officer terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns as it approached State Routes 53 and 81.

The vehicle was later recovered after it had been abandoned.

Police Chief Dennis Musser stated that residents should be aware that all of the vehicles targeted in these thefts have been either a KIA or Hyundai.

Thieves can bypass the ignition and start these vehicles without a key, making them an easy target.

Law enforcement believes the suspects may be young adults or possibly juveniles.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact KPD at 419-673-0771 option 1.
