HCSO Warning Residents About Statewide Scam

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be aware of a scam taking place across the state.

Citizens are receiving phone calls from people claiming to be a deputy, and they asking for cash payment in order to avoid arrest due to unpaid fees, failure to appear and more.

The caller may also suggest picking up the payment via UBER or similar types of car service.

Residents should keep in mind that no deputy or any Hardin County Sheriff’s Office personnel will solicit money for any such purpose.

Additionally, the same is true for any law enforcement agency in Hardin County.

Persons who receive such calls should simply hang up and not engage the caller in conversation.

After receiving such a call, you can call the Sheriff’s Office for confirmation or clarification.
