The Ridgemont Boy’s golf team won the NWCC league on Wednesday, September 18th.
The Gophers have had an amazing season and are currently undefeated. Their next match is set for Tuesday, September 24th and the team is projected to win that match as well.
Ridgemont golf coach Collin Wallace said they have put in countless hours of work and played at the course or did some sort of golf workout every single day. Some days the boys would come out and do 36 holes and even play more after winning matches just to coorect the small mistakes they made during the match.
Dawson Manns was the one man for the entire year and ended up finishing with the NWCC Player of the Year title. He was the lowest shooting player out of all three tournaments.
Will Browning and Devan Ramsey were right behind him, giving him two players to compete with no matter where the Gophers went.
Harrison Reppart was a strong 4 man and was able to secure some wins for them this season as well.
John Seeley and Charles Wingfield are the 5 and 6 that Coach Wallace said kept the team going. They always kept morale up and supported the whole team, while also shooting great scores and constantly improving.
Ridgemont also finished with 4 of the top 6 players in the entire league. They were able to win the league by a large margin due to the constant work the team put in.
They are the first team in Ridgemont Golf history to win the league. Last year this almost same team was runner up in the league and only lost by 9 strokes.
While Ridgemont will be graduating one senior this school year, Will Browning, the other five will be staying on the team for next year.
Ridgemont Boys’ Golf Coach Collin Wallace stated, “We broke numerous team records this year, like low team score on 9, low team score on 18, and more. Overall, we had an amazing season and I could not ask for a better group of boys on this team. Our next step is playing in the sectional tournament on 9/26 at Valley View Golf Club. If we make it out of there to districts, it will also be the first time in Ridgemont Golf history that the team has moved on. “
Coach Wallace also stated they are looking forward to a good last part of the season and a good team going in to next year.
