The Ohio Department of Agriculture will be aerially spraying this summer to stop the spread of the spongy moth caterpillar. The spongy moth is a significant invasive forest pest that has moved west into Ohio from Pennsylvania and Michigan. Each egg mass that a female lays contains between 500 to 1,000 individual eggs, and once hatched they are able to feed on the leaves of over 300 different tree and shrub species. Outgoing Hardin County Commissioner Roger Crowe will be recognized as the 2024 Hardin County Fair Honoree. Crowe was a 32-year member of the Kenton Fire Department where he retired with the rank of Captain. Most recently, he has served as a Hardin County Commissioner for the past eight years.
