Rescheduled Forest Council Meeting Cancelled

A rescheduled Forest Council meeting has been cancelled.   Council was set to meet Wednesday night to make up for a meeting that was postponed back on March 14.   However, the village cancelled the March 27 meeting.   Council members will reconvene at the next scheduled meeting on April 11 at the normal time.

Hardin Northern Grad Receives University Club II Scholarship

University Club II announced that the recipient of the 2019 Scholarship is Ashton Stevenson. She is a senior at West Virginia University with a double major in Forestry Resource Management and Recreation, Parks and Tourism Resources. Man Arrested on APA Pick-Up Order

A man was arrested Monday morning on a pick-up order through the Adult Parole Authority.   According to the Kenton Police Department report, an officer on patrol observed 32 year old Derrick R. Houtz sitting in a vehicle parked in the 400 block of East Columbus.   Knowing he was wanted on the pick-up order, the officer stopped and approached the vehicle.   After confirming his identity, the officer proceeded to arrest Houtz.

Driver Cited Following Monday Afternoon Crash in Kenton

A Kenton woman was cited for an assured clear distance ahead violation following a crash Monday afternoon on Columbus Street.   According to the report from the Kenton Police Department, 40 year old Wendy Harriman was driving east on Columbus near Oriental Street when she looked down to pick something up not realizing traffic in front of her was stopping.   Her car struck the rear of a vehicle being operated by 41 year old Randall Buxton, of Kenton.   […]

HN FFA Hosting Pancake Breakfast

The Hardin Northern FFA Chapter will host a pancake breakfast on Saturday, April 13th beginning at 8am in the Ag Building.   They will be serving all you can eat pancakes, sausage links, milk, juice or coffee until 10am.   The cost is $6.00 at the door.   All proceeds will go to help send members to State Convention.   Contact the Ag Office at 419-759-2331 extension 1604 if you have any questions.

Scam Reported to Marion County Sheriff on Monday

Another scam was reported in the region.   This one was in Marion County, where a resident received a check in the mail Monday.   The check was for $2300 and was part of a secret shopper program. The person receiving the check was to cash it and keep $350. The remaining amount was to be used to purchase Walmart gift cards. Bluffton University Senior to Make Presentation

Bluffton University senior Jena O’Brien will present “Crisis Communication in Higher Education: A Rhetorical Analysis of Larry Nassar and Michigan State.”   That will at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, in the Reading Room of Musselman Library.   O’Brien will describe the importance and process of issuing public apologies during her presentation. She will also look at the specific language used in public apologies. This event is free and open to the public.
