Former Dayton Insurance Agent and Investment Adviser Sentenced for Ponzi Scheme Targeting Elderly

DAYTON - Former Dayton-area insurance agent and investment adviser John Gregory Schmidt was sentenced today in Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas to serve five years in prison. Bellefontaine Police Chief Receives Executive of the Year Award

Ohio D.A.R.E. recognized Bellefontaine Police Chief Brandon Standley and Officer Andy Kennedy this past weekend at Cedar Point.    Both attended the annual awards banquet. Chief Standley was awarded the Sheriff James Karnes Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award for his ongoing support of D.A.R.E. and youth initiatives. Officer Kennedy was honored for achieving his 5th year as a D.A.R.E. Officer.

Richwood Teacher Receives DARE Award

A Richwood educator was the recipient of a D.A.R.E. award.   Brooke Keever, from North Union Elementary School in Richwood received the 2019 Ohio D.A.R.E. Educator of the Year Award.   Union County Sheriff Jamie Patton and Deputy Shawn Dyer thanked her for her dedication to the youth of Logan County.

Marion Police Officer Honored at FOP’s Annual Dinner

A Marion police officer received recognition during a recent dinner.   Officer Joe McDonald was selected among Ohio's Finest from the Fraternal Order of Police Foundation.   The 7th annual dinner was held at Hollywood Casino in Columbus.   His fellow police officers at the Marion Police Department congratulated Officer McDonald for the recognition.

The City of Wapakoneta is accepting bids for several vehicles.    The bid form is available at the City Administration Building or on the city's website.   The bid forms must be dropped off before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26th along with a deposit of $50.00 per vehicle bid.   Vehicles will be on display Friday near the City Pond on Willipie Street in Wapakoneta.
