Bellefontaine Police Department Holds DARE Lock-In

A DARE Lock-in was held this week at the Hilliker YMCA in Bellefontaine.   75 fifth and sixth graders from the Bellefontaine area enjoyed games, food and fun with the Bellefontaine Police Department and about 12 high school D.A.R.E. Club students.   They also were visited by OSU standout and NFL player Doug Worthington.

Hardin County’s Unemployment Rate Drops in February

Ohio's unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in February 2019, down from 4.7 percent in January.   According to a release from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the number of workers unemployed in Ohio in February was 265,000, down 4,000 from 269,000 in January.   The February unemployment rate for Ohio increased slightly from 4.5 percent in February 2018.   Hardin County's unemployment rate was 4.2 percent in February, down from January's 5.1 percent.   The U.S. unemployment […]

Wapak Police Say No Human Trafficking Incident Happened in the City

Police in Wapakoneta moved Tuesday to stop rumors that there was an attempted abduction incident in the city back on Friday.   According to a release from the department, the investigation started after a Facebook post showed a possible human trafficking attempt at McDonald's and various other businesses in Wapakoneta.   Officers interviewed juveniles and also reviewed video from McDonald's that shows a female and a male, one of whom appears to be under the influence.   The department came […]

Marion Woman Facing Drug Charge in Union County

A Marion woman was arrested this week on a drug charge in Union County.   According to the Daily Media Release from the Union County Sheriff's Office, a deputy on patrol checked a disabled vehicle on State Route 4 near State Route 161.   After further investigation, the driver, identified as 29 year old Ashley R. Brickner, was arrested for possession of drug abuse instruments.   She was transported to the Tri County Regional Jail.

Marion County Retesting Tornado Sirens Today

The Marion County Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday that all of the tornado sirens have been checked and are now working properly.   Some sirens did not work during last week's statewide tornado siren test.   The Marion County Sheriff’s Office central dispatch center will be setting off all of Marion County’s tornado sirens today at noon to retest the severe weather siren system.

Information Sought on the Whereabouts of Man Wanted on Felony Charges

Hardin County Law Enforcement is seeking information on the whereabouts of 23 year old Charles Paul Crowe, whose last known address is in the village of Dunkirk. He is the subject of a 4 count felony indictment handed down by a Hardin County Grand Jury back in January. Raymond Man Killed in Tuesday Morning Crash

A Raymond, Ohio man was killed in a crash that occurred this morning on State Route 347 between East Liberty and Raymond.   WPKO Radio reported that 29 year Jason Winter was driving east on 347 when he attempted to make a left hand turn.   His vehicle was struck by a westbound semi being operated by 49 year old Richard Casteele, of Prospect.   Winter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union County Coroner's Office. Rescheduled Forest Council Meeting Cancelled

A rescheduled Forest Council meeting has been cancelled.   Council was set to meet Wednesday night to make up for a meeting that was postponed back on March 14.   However, the village cancelled the March 27 meeting.   Council members will reconvene at the next scheduled meeting on April 11 at the normal time.
