Leighton Street Bridge to Close for Repairs

The Leighton Street bridge in Kenton will be shut down beginning on Thursday July 6. Kenton Safety Service Director Cindy Murray stated that the Ohio Department of Transportation advised the city that deficiencies were noted during a recent inspection. ODOT said that the bridge needed to be closed until the repairs can be made. No timetable was given as to how long the bridge will be closed.

Voter Registration Deadline is July 10

The deadline for voter registration to be eligible to vote in the August 8 Primary Election is Monday July 10.   The Hardin County Board of Elections is located in the basement of the Hardin County Courthouse in downtown Kenton. The office will be open until 9:00 p.m. on July 10 for your convenience.

Some Activities Not Permitted at Chad Roof Inclusive Playground

Visitors to the new Chad Roof Inclusive Playground in Kenton are reminded that some activities are not permitted. No bikes, skate boards, roller blades, hoverboards, tricycles, scooters or heely shoes are permitted on the playground. The cost of the flooring is $175,000, and damages to the equipment and flooring will be the responsibility of the child's family. There are cameras installed at the playground, and they are checked daily.

Punky’s Pace Race Set for Saturday Morning

Punky's Pace Race in memory of Keegan McKee will be held this Saturday morning July 8 in Ridgeway. The 5K walk/run will start at 9 Saturday morning at the old Ridgemont high school track. Kenton-OHP FFA Chapter Attended Camp Muskingum

The Kenton-Ohio Hi-Point FFA Chapter recently went to Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum.  While there, they went kayaking, attended many different workshops, and ended their nights with dancing.  During the week they got to create new friendships with different chapters and also got to learn more about Ohio’s previous FFA state officers.  Overall, it was described as a great experience.

KHS Golf Teams Holding Fundraiser Event

The Kenton High School Girls and Boys Golf Teams are holding a fundraiser golf outing on July 14. It will start at 9 that morning at Memorial Park Golf Course in Kenton. 18 holes of golf will be played, and lunch will be provided. Cash payouts are based on the number of entries. Never Give Up Football Camp a Little Over 3 Weeks Away

The 2023 Never Give Up Football Camp will take place on Friday July 28. Registration will be at 6:30 and the camp will begin at 7 that evening at Robinson Field in Kenton. The mission of the camp is to provide individuals with disabilities a chance to learn the game of football under the Friday Night Lights.
