Fire Hydrants Being Flushed in Kenton’s Third Ward Next Week

The Kenton Fire Department will begin flushing hydrants in the Third Ward of the city starting on Monday May 15. That will then continue through the week. This will include areas north of Columbus Street, and west of Detroit Street. Residents in that area may experience low pressure or discolored, rusty water while hydrants are flushed in your neighborhood.

Kenton Summer Tennis Camp Next Month

Kenton Summer Tennis Camp is scheduled for June 6 through June 29. Camp will be held from 10am until 11:30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays only during the period at the Kenton High School Tennis Courts. It is for any child entering first through eighth grade in the fall. The deadline to sign up is May 30. Alger Public Library Hosting Alzheimer’s Program

The Alger Public Library is hosting a program called the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's. It will be presented by Jack Duffy starting at 5pm on Tuesday May 16. Memory loss that disrupts daily life may be a symptom of Alzheimer's or other dementia.  Alzheimer's is a brain disease that causes a slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills.  There are 10 warning signs and symptoms.

Memorial Day Parade Set for May 29

City of Kenton Government, Kenton Lions Club  and Kenton Historic Courthouse District are planning a Memorial Day Parade. It will start at 10am on Monday, May 29. Lineup will be at 9 that morning at Mary Lou Johnson - Hardin County District Library. To register a float, follow a link on the Kenton Historic Courthouse District Facebook page.

HUD Awards Grants to State of Ohio

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD, awarded a just over ten million four hundred thousand dollars grant to the state of Ohio to help create and preserve safe, affordable housing.  Ohio’s affordable housing providers can use the funds from the investment for housing activities and operating cost assistance for rental housing.  The funds will be distributed by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency.

Prospect Man Killed After Motorcycle Strikes Deer

A Prospect, Ohio man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding struck a deer in Marion County Tuesday night. According to a release from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 45 year old Gerald Lyman was operating the motorcycle southeast on Prospect-Upper Sandusky Road when the deer entered the roadway.
