Maximum Age to Join OSP Increased

The maximum age to join the Ohio State Highway Patrol has increased. Cadets must turn 21 prior to being commissioned and must enter the training academy prior to their 40th birthday. The minimum requirements are that you must be a U.S. Citizen with a High School Diploma or GED. You must also have a valid driver's license with less than 6 points. Ridgemont Golf Scramble Scheduled for May 28

Ridgemont's annual Golf Scramble has been scheduled. It will be held on Sunday May 28. The Shotgun Start is at 9 that morning at the Memorial Park Golf Course in Kenton. There will be door prizes and a meal is included with fees. The proceeds go to the Ridgemont Girls Basketball and Golf Teams.

The Union County Law Enforcement Memorial Service has been scheduled for Thursday May 11. It will start at 7 that evening on the north lawn of the Union County Courthouse in Marysville. The Memorial Service is being held to pay tribute to peace officers who gave their lives serving Union County. The public is invited.

Alger Library to Open at 2 this Afternoon if Electric Service is Restored

The Alger Public Library will not open until 2 this afternoon.  That is due to the power in the area being turned off for maintenance by American Electric Power. If the power is not restored past that time, then the Library will remain closed for normal business for the remainder of the day.  However, the Poetry Meet and Greet is still being held today.

The Kenton Police Department is continuing its effort to enforce warnings given to clean up properties in the city. According to a report from Tuesday, several vehicles remained on a property in the 500 block of Robinson Avenue after a warning was given to remove them ten days earlier.
