City officials in Kenton are reminding residents about an ordinance that has been on the books for nearly 54 years.
City council members in June of 1967 passed the ordinance that bans ice fishing, ice boating and skating on the waters of France Lake.
Over the years, signs suggesting that the activity is permitted have appeared at the lake.
City officials are now saying they are in the process of removing those signs since they intend to enforce the ordinance.
They are asking residents to understand that the ordinance is for the safety of the citizens and the liability of the City.
