The Allen County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau is continuing its investigation into the June 29th shooting at Meijer. While detectives have identified the individual believed to have discharged the firearm, investigators are still working to identify and locate the remaining individuals involved and are asking for the public’s assistance.
On June 29, 2026, at approximately 4:10 p.m., deputies with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office responded to Meijer (3298 Elida Road, Lima, Ohio) after receiving reports of shots fired inside the store. Deputies, assisted by the Lima Police Department, secured and searched the building. No suspects or victims were located at the scene.
The investigation determined that a group of younger black males entered the store looking for an employee they knew. A confrontation between the group and the employee escalated into a physical altercation. A firearm was produced and a single shot was fired. No injuries were reported, and all individuals involved fled before law enforcement arrived.
Although the victim is no longer cooperating with investigators, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to identifying everyone involved and holding those responsible accountable.
As part of the investigation, detectives have identified the individual believed to have produced the firearm as Dezzmin Cobb (DOB: 8-16-2007) of Lima. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Detectives continue working to identify and locate the remaining individuals involved.
“This was a planned incident involving a very specific target. This was not a random act of violence, and I want to make that very clear,” said Sheriff Matthew B. Treglia. “It’s unfortunate that the victim has chosen not to cooperate with our investigation, but someone knows who was involved. The victim may not want justice through our legal system, but Allen County does, and this office does. If you have any information, no matter how small it may seem, I am asking you to please come forward.”
This investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Mitchell Scott of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office at 419-993-1431 or 419-227-3535.
